With Enzo Fernandes returning to Portugal today following his World Cup break, local sports newspapers come up to say he may not last long at Benfica.
It’s no secret that a few clubs will be trying to sign him from the Eagles in January, and Manchester United are up there against them, according to O Jogo.
The Red Devils ‘have advanced’ in recent days with ‘new contacts and approaches’ to convince Benfica of a sale in the middle of the season.
Following the €100m bid that recently arrived at the Luz, it’s said Manchester United are one of the clubs working to drive that bid up.
According to Record, Benfica are now waiting for a new offer to arrive. The Eagles already turned down €100m, and their front page story today says Jorge Mendes is about to deliver an attempt which, with taxes, will surpass the €126m that Atlético Madrid spent to sign João Félix. But just like with that offer from the last week, the bidders are not named yet.
