Italian website Calciomercato reports Juventus looked at signing Phil Foden, whose contract at Manchester City will expire in 2020.
It’s claimed the 18-year-old’s name has proposed to the Turin club and they were looking at a similar deal that saw them sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United six years ago.
Calciomercato mentions the Serie A winners have now decided not to proceed with their efforts for the Stockport-born player because they don’t want to spoil their relationship with the English club.
For this reason, Juventus are willing to allow the ‘rumours’ about their interest in Foden stay as ‘rumours’ and are unwilling to participate in a bidding war for him because they have no plans to ‘irritate’ Manchester City or their sporting director Txiki Begiristain.
Meanwhile at the Etihad, Foden’s current side are said to have formulated a ‘super renewal offer’ to tie him down to a long-term deal. Even Pep Guardiola has involved himself in order to convince the teenager that his future lies at Manchester City.
The report suggests, there is a feeling in the past few hours that Foden is now close to agreeing a deal that will see him extend his stay with the club until 2024.
