Manchester City midfielder Yangel Herrera is in Granada to negotiate a return to the club after Valencia cooled their interest.
Herrera spent last season on loan with Granada, becoming a key player and earning plenty of rave reviews.
That loan ended this summer, but it has been expected he will secure a second loan deal for next season, with Valencia thought to be keen.
Manchester City had tried to include him as part of the deal for Ferran Torres, but that was dismissed by the Spanish club, who wanted to deal with the two players separately.
The last reports on a potential move was 11 days ago, with RadioEsport Valencia reporting that Valencia were confident of getting a deal done and had a ‘principle agreement’ in place with the midfielder.
There’s been little update since then, except Herrera warning Valencia that he would not wait and had several clubs interested in his signature.
One of those appears to be Granada, with Mundo Deportive reporting that they ‘want to count’ on him next season.
They are reportedly negotiating a repeat of his loan with Manchester City, and Herrera has even been in the city ‘for a few days’ with the intention of ‘reaching an agreement’ with the club.
That is because Valencia’s interest has ‘cooled down’ due to the fact they do not have a free non-EU space in their squad for him.
That was something mentioned throughout the rumours linking him to the club, and it seems the player has become aware the issue won’t be resolved any time soon.
Thus, he’s gone to one of his other suitors and now appears to be closing in on a return to Granada for a second loan spell there instead.
