Following reports from the Spanish media saying Barcelona and Manchester City are very close to confirming a deal for the transfer of Ferran Torres, we now get to see new updates claiming both clubs are confident of the move happening.
One of the pieces comes from Mundo Deportivo, who report that both the Catalan and the English side take the transfer as done, as they now work out the perfect timing to make the official announcement.
The outlet points out that Torres’ signing was an express request made by manager Xavi, after his arrival at the club. And Barça have been working on the transfer since late November.
It’s claimed that the club and player had an agreement ‘for weeks’, and following talks with Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain, they now managed to find the basis of a deal.
Barcelona’s confidence is also reported by Cadena Cope. Their sources at the club now add that the transfer is ‘imminent’. Despite their lack of details about the price paid for Torres, it’s said Barça will spend more than the €45m they had initially offered to Manchester City.
According to Rac1, the move will be done for €55m plus bonuses, with the clubs now ‘about to close the deal’.
