Manchester City target Ousmane Diomande seems to be living a quite interesting situation at Sporting.

Even though he’s heavily linked to a club exit, as several sides are said to be keen on his signing, the Lions also want to reward his good form at the club.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola today writes that Sporting want to give Diomande a new salary, as he currently earns €300k per season.

His current deal expires in 2027, so there should be no surprise if that’s extended for a couple of more years, while his €80m release clause may not change.

A Bola makes it clear that Sporting have absolutely no intention of selling him in the winter, so if Manchester City or any others try for this signing, they must put the €80m on the table.

The Lions only spent €7.5m to get him signed back in January, although they’re now spending a bit more than that because of some performance bonuses following his great start.

Besides the big price, Manchester City should be aware that other English sides such as Arsenal and Newcastle are said to be in the battle as well.

That’s why, despite the Lions’ desire to reward him, they know he’s unlikely to stay at the club for much longer.
