Manchester City are making an attempt for the signing of River Plate star Julian Alvarez, according to reports from Argentina.
Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo claims the Premier League side are putting two offers on the table, letting the Buenos Aires club choose the best for them.
The first option is to sign the player before the end January. In this case, it’s possible that Manchester City would loan him somewhere else until next summer.
Merlo adds that none of the offers get to the price of Alvarez’s release clause, which has been reported by the Argentine media as €20m.
As soon as Cesar Luis Merlo reported the bids on Twitter, outlet TyC also came up with a short story on their website saying basically the same. So it should be no surprise if we continue to get updates from the Argentine media today.
Julian Alvarez, who had 19 goals in River Plate’s title winning campaign last season, has been linked to several European giants, and now it seems it’s Manchester City who are moving first.
