Ever since #BirthdayCakeGate, the rumour sending Yaya Touré to Inter Milan has been a yearly thing, and 2017 proves it’s going to be no different to its predecessors.
With the Manchester City midfielder’s agent as talkative as ever, even refusing to downplay a potential move to city rivals Manchester United, the option of going to Inter Milan has reappeared.
The Ivorian midfielder was always a Mancini favourite, meaning a move to the Serie A club when the former Manchester City manager was in charge made sense, but with Stefano Pioli now at the helm, and the Italian side trying to rejuvenate their squad, a move for the 33-year-old seems unlikely.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped the suggestion to be thrown around, with AC Milan also recently said to be keen on Touré’s services.
This means a Milan battle for the soon-to-be free agent (his contract runs out in June) could be one of the big summer stories, yet the player is said to favour one of the two.
According to AbidjanTV.net in Ivory Coast, the player’s entourage have hinted Yaya would prefer a move to Inter Milan over their neighbours due to their more enticing project.
After all, as things stand, Inter Milan’s takeover is complete, with money less of an issue, while the sale of Silvio Berlusconi’s club is expected to drag on for another month or so.
Unlikely to sign a contract extension at the Etihad, it seems Touré is set for an exit, and it’ll be interesting to see whether he chooses the competitive option, or settles for a big financial package outside of Europe.
