Manchester City have not given up on the signing of West Ham United star Lucas Paquetá, according to reports from Brazil.
UOL today writes that Pep Guardiola’s side are watching the investigation over the player’s betting accusations and waiting for a conclusion on his case.
In case he’s innocent, it’s said Manchester City are ‘decided’ to make a new offer for him in the January transfer window.
The treble winners had already tried to sign Paquetá in the summer, and even had an offer turned down by West Ham. They gave up on the deal once the investigations began.
According to UOL, Guardiola sees the Brazilian as a potential long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who’s been ruled out with an injury lately.
The investigations over Paquetá have been keeping him away from the national team, but he continues to play normally for West Ham, where he has four goals and one assist in 15 appearances this season.
Our curiosity is now drawn to how much would Manchester City put on the table to get him signed in January, after throwing big amounts at the Hammers over the summer, to no avail.
