Manchester City defender Kevin De Bruyne has insisted there is no problem with manager Pep Guardiola and any suggestion otherwise is just media speculation.
The Belgian has been speaking to De Morgen about the end of the season as Manchester City eye up a historic treble.
They’ve already secured a Premier League title and FA Cup and could add a first Champions League crown to that with victory over Inter Milan on Saturday.
It’s been another impressive campaign from Guardiola and his men, with De Bruyne yet again a key player in the centre of it.
He’s managed 10 goals and 31 assists in 48 games in all competitions this season, another impressive tally for a player who is now a bonafide Manchester City icon.
There have been moments where he has been out of the side, though, with Guardiola electing to rotate on occasion or use his other options in an attempt to keep the 31-year-old in peak condition.
De Bruyne was seen visibly remonstrating with Guardiola in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final clash with Madrid.
That led to the predictable suggestions that there had been a falling out, but he insists the reality is far blander.
“(I) don’t have any problem with it. I think occasionally more is made of it than is actually going on,” he said.
“When a player says or does something, when a coach claims something. That’s never something personal. In the end, professionals always want to bring out the best in each other.
“Take that discussion the coach and I had against Real. Then so much is written about that, so much is done about that.
“And here with us, people don’t even talk about that anymore. Everyone just wants to win.”
