When Brazil played Panama in a friendly in Porto last weekend, Manchester City fullback Danilo had the chance to visit his old club.
His return to Estádio do Dragão got a lot of attention from the local media, and today, his quotes with Canal Porto are all over the Portuguese outlets.
Danilo has spoken a lot about his love for Porto, and is even thankful that he now plays for a club who wear the same colours.
“When I went to Manchester City I was thankful for continuing to wear blue. I identify myself with it,” Danilo told Canal Porto (via O Jogo). “I hope that the two can succeed and we meet in the final.”
The Brazilian, who’s already won the Champions League for Real Madrid, says he still needs to get that trophy with City, and it would be great if it happens with Porto.
“I hope so, it would be very special. Playing for City, I’m very thankful to be in the Premier League and to work with this technical team. We are in a fantastic moment to fight for everything. I would give my best and would want to have one more Champions, but it would be special.”
On his visit to Porto, he says he told his Manchester City teammates that they would be well treated at the Dragão: “I talk a lot to Gabriel Jesus and Ederson, who play with me at Manchester City, and they do not understand how I like FC Porto so much, and I told them: you’ll be there and see. You arrive at Olival and the cleaning staff, the security guards treat us with a lot of affection, as if we were a family member. That’s why Brazilians feel so good here”.
Danilo was also asked about a possible return to the Dragons, but claims his job is done there: “I feel accomplished for what I did at Porto, maybe a little frustration for not winning the league in the last two years, especially in the last. We lost in details. I feel accomplished by people asking me to come back, this is the biggest legacy we can leave. FC Porto have a fan in me.”
