Aïssa Mandi certainly isn’t a footballer who has been linked a lot with West Ham United, at least in relation to some other reported targets.

There have been claims suggesting a previous offer, and the Hammers are mentioned in an article about potential Atletico Madrid interest in the Real Betis player.

An important part of the Seville club’s team, the Algeria international has 39 appearances for Betis so far this season.

Estadio Deportivo say there’s now ‘alert’ at the Spanish club because Atletico Madrid could move for the player.

On Wednesday it was announced that Lucas Hernandez will be joining Bayern Munich in the summer. That leaves Atletico short of a defender, and €80m richer.

There’s been talk of Atletico interest, and the club could now easily pay the 27 year’s buyout clause. That currently stands at €30m, with Betis considering a new contract to raise the figure to €60m.

It’s then stated that West Ham offered €14m in the summer window, which was deemed ‘insufficient’ given his status in the team.

Should Manuel Pellegrini’s team return in the summer, they could well face strong Atletico competition.
