Manchester City re-signed Angeliño from PSV Eindhoven in the summer and after spending a few months in his second spell at the Etihad, he was allowed to join RB Leipzig on loan on deadline day of the January window.
The left-back made only four starts in the league for Pep Guardiola’s side. After joining the German club, the 23-year-old admitted a lack of opportunities with the Premier League winners convinced him go out on loan.
Since joining Leipzig on a temporary deal, he played the full 90 minutes in their 3-1 cup defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on February 4th.
The Bundesliga side is the Spaniard’s seventh club in less than seven years.
Angeliño joined Leipzig on loan until the end of the season and they have an option to make the deal permanent. The player has also expressed desire to extend his stay at Leipzig beyond this campaign.
“I hope for five strong months at RB Leipzig. My goal is to recommend myself for a longer stay,” Angeliño was quoted as saying by Sky Germany.
Meanwhile, Leipzig sports director Markus Krösche has admitted the fee needed to make Angeliño’s transfer permanent has to be keep a secret.
“We are not talking about numbers. This is explicitly agreed with Manchester,” Krösche said, as reported by Sport Buzzer.
