Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi could be on his way to Serie A, according to claims from the Italian media.

La Repubblica says Inter Milan are focused on signing the 32-year-old, as manager Antonio Conte likes the player.

And it seems there’s been a positive sign from Otamendi himself, as the outlet claims he’s ‘given his approval’ to the chance of moving to the Nerazurri.

The report claims that Inter Milan would have to pay Manchester City €5m for the transfer, and offer the defender a three-year contract worth €4m per season.

That’s a pay cut Otamendi would have to take, since he currently has a contract with Manchester City until 2022, making €7m per season.

La Repubblica also points out that Inter Milan should be aware of competition from Lazio and Porto to land the Argentine international.

Back at the weekend, the Portuguese press reported that Porto are keen on bringing Otamendi back to the club, claiming they have an ‘advantage’ over the competition.
