Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has been cut out of the national squad, according to reports from Brazil.
Globo Esporte says the player is set to miss the matches against Colombia and Argentina, with Athletico Paranaense’s Bento getting called up for his place.
It’s said Ederson suffered a trauma on his left foot during the draw between Manchester City and Chelsea at the weekend.
It’s not yet clear whether the goalkeeper is being sidelined just during the international break or if it’ll take longer for him to recover.
That’s a bit of a blow for Ederson, because he’d been Brazil’s number one since Fernando Diniz took charge of the national team.
There’s also the fact that Brazil will be playing two important matches now, and since they haven’t been in great form, there’ll big pressure on the squad.
Manchester City will be back on the pitch on the 25th of November, playing Liverpool, in a match that will decide who stays top of the Premier League table, and Pep Guardiola is certainly hoping Ederson will recover in time.
