On Friday, Corriere dello Sport explained that Manchester City have initiated contact with the entourage of Lazio goalkeeper Chrīstos Mandas.
The 22-year-old has climbed through the ranks after joining the Serie A side from Greek club OFI last summer. Ivan Provedel’s absence due to injury has allowed the former to feature regularly for the Serie A side in the past two months.
Mandas has kept four clean sheets and conceded six goals from eight league games. His fine displays have seen Manchester City take notice and today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport provides the latest on his future.
The Greece international has ended up on Manchester City’s radar. They are ‘on the hunt’ for promising talents and the goalkeeper is among the players the Citizens are following.
On Monday, Mandas’ agent Diego Tavano told TMW that there’s interest from abroad, but his client’s wish is to continue at Lazio, where he could also sign an extension.
Provedel has recovered from an injury and was on the bench against Monza last weekend. He’s expected to regain the No.1 spot and Mandas will be his deputy, unless Manchester City’s ‘sirens become very strong and indispensable’.
It’s further claimed the Greek is expected to continue at the club ‘unless unmissable offers arrive’ from Pep Guardiola’s side or another club in the next window.
