Manchester City often have someone watching FC Porto and it’s something which has resulted in high value transfer business.
Both Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando came from Porto in recent transfer windows, and there are good relations between the two clubs because it was felt Manchester City dealt with their approaches in the best possible way.
On Wednesday night Manchester City had an official, or ‘spy’, at the match between Porto and AS Roma. The official list has been published by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, and City were in attendance along with clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Sevilla… and Wigan Athletic.
There were no standout performers, but once again Porto have some good young players coming through and so they’re worth keeping an eye on.
Maybe Manchester City were trying to work out how much Porto need a defender, and therefore how much of Eliaquim Mangala’s wages they’d be prepared to pay if the Frenchman returns to his former club on loan.
