Catalan newspaper Sport has an article on Sunday which takes a few digs at Manchester City.
Firstly, it’s insisted Lautaro Martinez remains a serious transfer objective for Barcelona, even with Ronald Koeman taking over at the club this month.
The Inter Milan player is said to be completely committed to a Barcelona move, and has therefore snubbed interest from other clubs. Manchester City are among them, according to the claims, having made an approach for the South American.
Martinez isn’t the only player fully focused on signing for Barcelona, Sport say Eric Garcia is in the same situation. The defender has told Manchester City he won’t renew his contract, which expires next June, and it’s stated the Premier League club know they ‘must sell’ this summer.
A first Barcelona offer of €10m is likely too low.
Then Sport move on to English claims of Barca being keen on Manchester City owned Angelino. That’s largely scoffed at, though, with it being explained Valencia’s Jose Gaya is the more serious target and a better player.
