On Friday we covered claims from Le Parisien about Manchester City interest in Jean-Michael Seri.
PSG and Manchester City were named as interested in the midfielder, but the Paris side only want to pay €25m. With Nice holding out for €40m that gives Manchester City an advantage if they’re prepared to go to the higher figure.
Le Parisien revealed Pep Guardiola ‘commissioned’ his club’s transfer gurus to meet Seri’s agents in Manchester last week, to sound out a potential transfer.
Saturday’s L’Equipe backs up the claims, saying: ‘Several leaders of the Mancunian club met with the player’s representative less than a week ago, and concrete discussions were held between the two parties.’
Manchester City haven’t yet decided whether they’ll move in January or the summer, but the wheels are certainly in motion.
L’Equipe also cover the PSG links but lean on Le Parisien for that. In fact, the French newspaper doesn’t make it abundantly clear that the City information is their own, but we’d have to assume it is from the way the story is presented.
Both sources are relatively reliable, so it would be assumed there’s something in this, or at least that someone in France is pushing it.
