Manchester City midfielder Yangel Herrera is ‘close to’ joining Spanish side Girona on loan for the rest of the season.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo journalist Nil Solà, who says the midfielder is ‘close to arriving’ at Montilivi.
The journalist reports that the midfielder would arrive on loan from Manchester City, who have rejected offers from elsewhere.
Valencia were also keen on a loan deal while Espanyol had made an ‘offer to buy’ the midfielder as well. That deal would have been worth €8m.
Manchester City do not seem willing to sell Herrera, though, and he would like to return to La Liga after spells with Espanyol, Granada and Huesca.
Girona are now the ‘main favourites’ to sign him and a deal is close to being completed after Manchester City rejected offers from elsewhere.
It will be Herrera’s fourth spell in Spain after his previous loan deals, although this one will take him to the final year of his deal at the Etihad once it is over.
