Last week, several stories popped up in the Brazilian media claiming that Manchester City and the City Group were interested in two Fluminense youngsters.
The claims were later confirmed by club president Mario Bittencourt, who said the Premier League side had promised to submit an official bid.
Well, it seems the offer arrived, as reported by Globo Esporte, however, it wasn’t good enough for Fluminense to say yes.
The offer for Kayky, who’d go straight to Manchester City, was €7m initially, with bonuses of between €5m and €15m. That was turned down by the Rio de Janeiro side just like Shakhtar Donetsk’s bid, which had been just €5m.
Now for Metinho, who will at first go to another club from the City Group, the offer was €7m. That also was also not enough to convince Fluminense.
Globo Esporte makes it clear that the negotiations aren’t over, and there’s a chance the City Group could submit new bids in the future.
Both players are still 17 and would only be able to move to Europe in the summer transfer window.
