Manchester City are one of the sides interested in Monaco youngster Lisandru Olmeta, who is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Manchester City are one of the European clubs ‘knocking on the door’ to get the youngster.
They explain that the 17-year-old is yet to commit to a long-term deal with Monaco, despite being offered his first professional contract by the Ligue 1 side.
His hesitation is mainly due to concerns about the sporting project proposed by those in charge of the club and that delay has led clubs to line up for him.
Olmeta wants to know what the club are planning to do with him. His ambition is to play in Ligue 1 in the medium or long-term but is accepting of the fact he has hard work to do to get to that point.
If he can’t get it with Monaco, though, he could move elsewhere and Rennes and Troyes are ready to make their move for him. The latter are part of the Manchester City network of clubs and their interest is coming via the Etihad.
It is stated that they are ‘on the verge of taking action’ for Monaco youngster, who has also caught the eye of a number of other European clubs.
The youngster now has all the cards in his hands to decide his future but he will not do so until after June 30th.
Neither his parents nor his agents, he is represented by the Stellar agency, will interfere with his decision and will instead put his sporting interests above all else.
Whether that means he will end up at Manchester City remains to be seen, but they are firmly in the race, at least via another club in their network, Troyes.
