Earlier this month, Andrea Cambiaso’s agent Giovanni Bia revealed Manchester City were keen on signing the Juventus player in the winter market.

Calciomercato provide a background on what Manchester City did in their failed efforts to sign the left-back.

The Premier League club made a concrete approach in January to find out if they could take him immediately.

According to the report, the Citizens’ plan was to not offer more than €45-50m while the Old Lady requested €80m.

They make it clear Manchester City didn’t table an offer, and their idea was to spend the aforementioned figures for Cambiaso. The January failure hasn’t put off the English club as they intend to return for him in the summer window.

Juventus are likely to request €80m for the Italy international and Manchester City will sit down with the Turin club to try to lower the price.

Pep Guardiola admires the 25-year-old and that’s one of the reasons why the Etihad club will make another attempt for him.

In Cambiaso, the manager sees a fullback ‘capable of organising the game, capable of centralising and even covering the role of midfielder.’

The player’s contract lasts until 2029 and wasn’t keen on leaving Juventus. Calciomercato state that if Manchester City were to make a concrete approach in the summer, it would be ‘difficult to say no’ for him.
