The Catalan media continues to present Manchester City as favourites for the signing of Erling Haaland, which feels more like a message to Barcelona fans than anything else.

With the striker expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer window, there’s been a number of suitors pushed forward for the deal, and Pep Guardiola’s side have been among the major ones.

Earlier this week, there was a series of clear leaks from the Camp Nou, which explained that whilst signing the Norway international is a possibility for Barcelona, it’s Pep Guardiola’s side who are out in front.

This seemed to be an effort to manage expectation among fans of the Blaugrana.

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo continues with the same theme, explaining Manchester City’s owners are fully going for the player this summer.

It’s stated that ‘even’ Barcelona president Joan Laporta believes Manchester City are ahead in the race, and that the club are determined to get their man.

Again, it’s worth noting this all seems to be information coming from the Catalan club rather than City or the player’s camp.

Chelsea, given their current situation, are now thought to be out of the picture.
