Manchester City will complete their move for Valencia winger Ferran Torres in ‘a matter of hours’ with the player undergoing his medical in Barcelona.
The young Spaniard has been on the verge of completing a move to the Etihad for the last week, with City identifying him as the ideal replacement for Leroy Sané.
A deal was agreed for €25m plus variables to take it over €30m but is yet to be completed, and now both Marca and Super Deporte say that is about to change.
They report today that the forward is in Barcelona this morning to undergo a medical before being signed by Manchester City.
Super Deporte add that he was met there by City chief Txiki Begiristain, who has been ‘leading the negotiations’ in recent weeks, and several other executives from the Etihad.
They have accompanied him to the medical, which he will undergo before completing his move.
The two newspapers also explain that Manchester City made a decision not to bring the player to England for his examination as that would mean him spending two weeks in quarantine as part of the Coronavirus protocols put in place by the government.
Given that, it’s curious Txiki Begiristain has travelled, because then he would also have to quarantine on his return.
Either way, a deal will be done at some point, and they are equally confident that this afternoon he will officially be a City player, bringing an end to this long saga.
