Tanguy Ndombélé has enjoyed a good season with Lyon in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season.
According to Le10 Sport, Manchester City were looking to land the France international before the start of this campaign and they even proposed a deal of €50m.
Despite the club’s failure to land the midfielder, the Premier League winners ‘keep the link’ with the 22-year-old’s entourage.
However, the report says Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t restarted discussions for Ndombélé so far, as everyone looks to the summer.
Manchester United are also keen, and they and City are thought to now be behind the Serie A clubs in the race for Ndombélé, who is valued around €80m by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas since the player signed a five-year deal last September.
Manchester City have been in the market for a midfielder and they may be hoping to beat the competition from Juventus and Inter in order to bring Ndombélé to England, especially if the claimed €50m offer happened.
