On Friday, claims from the English press stated Manchester City have their eyes set on Torino’s Samuele Ricci.
Pep Guardiola has revealed Rodri will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury against Arsenal earlier this month.
Manchester City have been looking at a few players to try and replace Rodri. Ricci is said to be high on their list, if they decide to sign a new midfielder in January.
Sport Mediaset relay this and provide their own take on the Serie A side’s plan for the 23-year-old.
It’s claimed the Manchester City links have seen the Italian club ‘speed up the renewal’. Ricci has a deal lasting until 2026 and the report says it includes a salary of €900,000 per year, which City could easily smash.
The Turin club’s intention is to extend the contract at least until 2028 and improve Ricci’s salary.
Torino Granata are backing up this claim and then provide a few more updates.
The Serie A side plan to offer him a contract until 2029 or until 2028, with an option for another year.
Torino could sell the Italy international even if he were to renew the contract. The report states no Torino player is non-transferable as their president, Urbano Cairo, has ‘always been very sensitive to offers’.
It’s claimed Manchester City would have to offer ‘very high figures’, without mentioning the specifics. This should give the Citizens hope, if they are keen to sign Ricci.
