With Mikel Arteta struggling to get any consistency out of his squad and Arsenal currently sitting 10th in the Premier League, questions about his future are bound to arise.
The Gunners hierarchy, however, seem intent on giving the Spaniard the time he needs to implement his philosophy at the Emirates, meaning we could see him in London for a while yet.
That being said, the temptation to change and fix things quickly will always remain, which is why it isn’t surprising to see some names linked with the Arsenal job.
One of those, albeit sporadically, has been Massimiliano Allegri, who has been out of a job since stepping down from Juventus in 2019 after five years in charge.
An approach from Arsenal has now been confirmed by one of his associates, his mentor Giovanni Galeone.
Galeone then went onto to give specifics about the reason behind Allegri’s decision to turn down the move to Arsenal, stating both Premier League clubs were dismissed because of ‘personal problems’.
It appears the manager is holding out for a specific job if he’s turning down the likes of Real Madrid and the Gunners, but, then again, he might also simply want somewhere offering more stability than the environment on offer at the Emirates these days.
When this approach was made isn’t clear, so it could be post-Emery, or more recently when things were looking bleaker than they currently are for Arteta.
