According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray will target Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame in the next transfer window.

The 31 year old’s contract with Newcastle will expire in the summer and the player has also been linked with other Premier League clubs. There’s thought to be an option to extend the deal by a further year, but Diame is looking for longer.

Fotomac today report Galatasaray manager Faith Terim is already looking to next season and he’s made central midfield one of his priorities. Terim has been left disappointed with the performances of Stoke City’s Badou Ndiaye after the player returned to the Super Lig club last summer.

The Stoke City man is currently on loan for the season but Terim wants to replace him with Diame. Diaye initially joined Stoke City from Cim Bom during the 2018 winter transfer window.

Galatasaray are said to believe they can sign the Newcastle player on a free transfer this summer, but that would be in direct conflict with the idea of an automatic renewal.

Diame has made 24 Premier League appearances for the Magpies this season.
