It seems Liverpool will continue to have a hard time in their reported pursuit of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

The Reds’ interest are mentioned in a story from Calcio Mercato today, which says the Anfield side have been have been showing a big ‘insistence’ in their chase for the 24-year-old.

The website says his agent has been getting ‘continuous phone calls’ about a potential transfer, but Napoli are hoping to end this race by extending his contract.

It’s claimed that Zielinski has shown ‘total opening’ to sign a new deal, and the Serie A side are ready to give him a pay rise and extend his contract until 2024.

That’s why the offers they are receiving, ‘especially from the Premier League’, are all being responded with a ‘no, thanks’, as the club are confident they will keep their star.

So for Liverpool to get him, they better have very good arguments to convince Napoli to sell. Not only that, Jurgen Klopp’s side will also have to convince the player it’s the best move for his career.

Liverpool and Zielinski links have been around for years, a contract renewal probably won’y end them.
