The Sandro Ramirez story has been curious to watch in Spain over the past few days.
First, at the beginning of last week, there was huge excitement after Valencia held a transfer meeting, and Sandro was reportedly picked as the club’s number one target.
Then followed numerous articles about what a good idea it is, how keen Valencia are, and how relatively easy the deal is for the Spanish club. It was even claimed Everton will continue to pay part of the player’s salary on a loan.
Things suddenly changed, as if someone told the Spanish media they were looking too desperate on behalf of Valencia, and the rumour was rowed back. The change led to claims it’s Everton the more eager on a deal, and Valencia aren’t really that fussed.
Sandro’s transfer dance sent out a whole bunch of mixed messages, and now Valencia’s manager has been asked about the potential Everton move.
Super Deporte quote Marcelino as saying “I will not talk about any player who is not here.”
Along with that almost obligatory snippet, Marcelino spoke about Sandro anyway, albeit briefly: “He’s a good Spanish footballer and knows La Liga.”
Marcelino could have just used his no-comment-comment, but didn’t, and that looks a subtle hint there’s at least some genuine interest in an Everton deal.
Deporte Valenciano are taking Marcelino’s words as a sure sign Sandro is his major striker target.
