According to a claim in the Swedish media, Sunderland are still showing an interest in IFK Goteborg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg.

The Championship side have been linked with the young Swede in recent months, but will face competition to sign the 18 year old, including from Watford.

Fotbol Direkt have reported on the latest developments with Dahlberg, and Sunderland are said to still be following the player. IFK could be forced to sell the youngster in the next window due to financial problems, and Sunderland are in the mix to sign the keeper.

The Swedish football outlet report Arsenal, Sunderland, Napoli, Watford and RB Leipzig are all tracking Dahlberg, and it’s expected IFK would sell their No.1 for bids in the region of 40m Krona (£3.5m).

Initial reports claimed Watford have already tabled a bid for the Sweden U21 international, but faced competition from Napoli. The Serie A side have held talks to sign the player ahead of the next window, as they look to bring in a back-up to Pepe Reina for next season.

Current Napoli No.2 is Rafael is out of contract next summer, and could move on.
