Galatasaray are still targeting Tottenham’s Dutch forward Vincent Janssen, despite the player’s agent saying Janssen wants to fight for his place at the Premier League club.
Janssen has struggled to find the net since signing for Tottenham, but there’s been no indication Mauricio Pochettino wants to push the player out.
The Turkish giants want to bring in a striker and their CEO Levent Nazifoglu confirmed their intentions: “Yes, we are looking to add a striker to our squad to boost our title challenge. We spoke with our manager and he certainly thinks adding a striker would be huge priority. So, we are looking at the potential targets. We’ll see what happens.”
Fanatik say Galatasaray manager Jan Olde Riekerink thinks he can convince former AZ striker Janssen to join Galatasaray, and he believes the Tottenham star could easily adapt because his compatriots Wesley Sneijder, Nigel de Jong and Garry Rodrigues are already at the club.
Fanatik say Galatasaray want to take Janssen from Tottenham on a loan deal, and they are ready to make an offer for the Dutch international in the coming days
Fanatik report Riekerink will advise Janssen (the Turkish media love imagining what is said and then repeating it as if fact): “Your place in the national team will be secure if you move to Galatasaray. Look at your captain, Sneijder. He’s also playing at Galatasaray and his place in the national team is secure. Don’t afraid of losing your place. If you do well at Galatasaray you’ll continue playing for Holland.”
Janssen joined Tottenham from AZ in the summer for a fee believed to be around €22million, but he’s been unable to make a big impact at Spurs.
