As has been previously reported, José Mourinho’s AS Roma have been looking for some defensive reinforcements, and Tottenham’s Eric Dier is on their list.
We have covered a few articles on that already, but Romagiallorossa have an exclusive on the upcoming transfer window for the Serie A side, where they provide more details.
The first name mentioned in the list of potential targets is that of the Tottenham centre-back, who has been barely used by Ange Postecoglou this season.
Dier was already a target for the Italians in the summer, but the negotiations had ‘stalled due to the high demands of Spurs’.
That was despite his contract expiring at the end of this season, but with just a couple of months left before he can negotiate a free transfer elsewhere, the belief is a ‘maximum of €4-5m’ will be enough to convince the London side.
That would allow Tottenham to make a ‘decent capital gain’, and would allow the player to ‘return to work with Mourinho as a player ‘specifically requested’ by the Portuguese manager.
Dier has only made two appearances this season for Spurs, both coming after the dramatic events of the 4-1 loss to Chelsea in which Cristian Romero was sent off and Micky van de Ven was injured.
