Newcastle United’s takeover is of course a subject in the world’s sports media, with some special attention in a few places, with Italy being one of them.
Local outlets have two reasons to give big coverage to it. Firstly, due to their traditional taste for transfer rumours, and also because one of the most pushed candidates to take charge of the Magpies is Antonio Conte.
With so much going on in the past few days, many have been giving their opinion on this possibility. Today, it was time for TV host Paolo Bonolis, who was interviewed by SportItalia. He was quizzed about the story and made a joke with the fact that Conte doesn’t stay at his jobs for too long.
“Yes, I read that there was this acquisition by a multi-billionaire,” said Bonolis (via FC Inter News).
“I think he would make the right choice if he were to take Conte. That lasts two years, huh…”
Antonio Conte is of course one of the many names being linked to Newcastle United.
At the weekend, Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport had a big story on the club’s wish to have him. Meanwhile, the French media reported today that the Magpies have been in contacts with Antero Henrique for the position of director of football.
