The Dutch media have reported Feyenoord manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is proud his club made a stance over not selling Nicolai Jorgensen to Newcastle United in this window.
Jorgensen has been linked with a move to the Premier League side this month, but a deal isn’t going to happen in this transfer window after Newcastle missed a deadline of 6pm on Monday.
De Telegraaf have reported on comments Van Bronckhorst made in his press conference today when he was quizzed about the forward’s failed move to Newcastle United: “I’ve not spoken to him this morning, but that will still happen today. For him personally it is unfortunate that the transfer didn’t happen. You know this sort of thing occasionally happens in football.
“I myself have also experienced a transfer which did not take place. But Nicolai is a professional, he knows how to deal with this and from now on he only thinks of success for the club.”
Earlier today we covered reports from the Netherlands that Newcastle United missed the deadline to come to an agreement over the signing of Jorgensen.
It was claimed Newcastle United weren’t prepared to pay Feyenoord’s asking price for the Denmark international.
There have been reports the English side increased their bid from €14.5m to €17m, but this wasn’t enough to convince the Dutch side.
