Charlie Patino showed a lot of promise in his early few days at Arsenal but like many he wasn’t able to continue the battle through to the first team.
The youngster spent his last two seasons on loan in the Championship, where he couldn’t show his qualities and as a result, Arsenal sold him to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna in the summer.
The 20-year-old’s time in Spain is yet to take off as he’s been on the bench in every game so far in the campaign.
AS in Spain state that the player’s situation is receiving attention and generating some controversy. Manager Imanol Idiakez is clearly getting irritated and feels people just want Patino on the pitch because they’re influenced by the hype during his years at Arsenal.
It’s previously been reported Patino is still adapting to life in Spain and is finding it a challenge. He can’t speak Spanish and that’s been holding him back.
Having said that, these are challenges that many young players who move abroad face, and Patino is facing them quite early in his career. If he moves past them soon, he could yet become an important player for his new club. Time is on his side.
