Julian Nagelsmann is ‘ahead of Luis Enrique’ in Chelsea’s thinking as they search for Graham Potter’s permanent replacement.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who say that the German coach is at the top of Chelsea’s wish list despite them meeting with Enrique at the beginning of this month.
The Blues are currently searching for their next permanent manager after electing to sack Potter last month.
Frank Lampard has been placed in temporary charge until the end of the season, but it is unlikely he will remain in the position beyond that point.
The plan appears to be to bring in a more high-profile name to fill the position and both Enrique and Nagelsmann, who are both available on a free, have been interviewed for the position.
Sky Germany offer their information on that front, stating that Nagelsmann met with two sporting directors from Chelsea, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, in London last Thursday to present his ideas for the club.
Those talks went well, so well in fact that the German coach is ‘ahead of the Spaniard Luis Enrique’ in the internal ranking of the Blues hierarchy.
They had already held talks with the 52-year-old about the post and he was in London at the beginning of this month to present his ideas too.
Nagelsmann appears to have impressed more at this point in time, although Mauricio Pochettino, Luciano Spalletti and Ruben Amorim are other candidates for the position and a decision is not imminent.
