With so many reports this year saying Flamengo had decided for or against signing Andreas Pereira permanently from Manchester United, it’s obvious that this saga became a bit boring following those turnarounds.
However, since there’s now only one month left on his loan at the Brazilian side, any updates now should be more accurate. And following several claims saying the club were about to give up on the deal, there’s interesting news in the past 24 hours or so.
Pereira did great in Flamengo’s 2-1 win over Fluminense on Sunday, and as manager Paulo Sousa talked about his performance, he made it clear he’d like the player to stay in their squad, having already told their football director Bruno Spindel.
“Of all those that we have, I would like this continuity that I have already expressed. We’ve already spoken to Bruno, but it’s not just up to us, it’s up to the player, the club. In the game against Católica, Andreas played an extraordinary game and now he was decisive,” said Sousa (via Lance).
Then according to a report from Isabelle Costa, Flamengo’s squad has already shown their wish for Pereira to stay. It’s said the midfielder is ‘loved by all’.
Despite the €20m buying option, it’s many times been reported that the Brazilian club have an agreement with Manchester United to complete the signing for €10m.
