Saint-Étienne are fourth in the table after 13 matches, but have managed only 15 goals so far, which is why there’s been reports suggesting the French club could sign an attacker in January.
Earlier this month, Le10 Sport explained the Ligue 1 side have watched Rangers star Alfredo Morelos ‘multiple times’, and now local newspaper Le Progrès are reporting the Colombia international has emerged as a target for Saint-Étienne and has been included on their recruitment team’s list.
It’s claimed Claude Puel likes the Rangers forward’s profile and at 23, there is still scope for improving the South American’s game.
The only problem for Saint-Étienne in signing Morelos is Rangers’ refusal to comply, as Steven Gerrard’s don’t wish to sanction their star player’s sale in January.
Le Progrès states, ‘in football, nothing is ever definitive. The only law that governs the environment is that of hard cash’, but whether Puel’s side will submit a tempting offer for the Rangers attacker in January remains to be seen, and there’s no guarantee they have the funds to impress the Scottish Premiership side enough.
Morelos has 22 goals and seven assists to his name in all competitions for Rangers this season.
