As things stand, if you had to ask us who the Italian press think Chelsea’s number one choice to replace Antonio Conte is next season, we’d have to say Maurizio Sarri.

It was Luis Enrique, followed by Max Allegri, but the way Il Mattino go on about the Blues’ interest in the Napoli manager puts him top of the list.

Of course, the fact this is all happening at a time when he is in talks to extend his contract at Napoli is questionable, but they definitely feel something is there from Chelsea’s end.

According to Il Mattino, the Blues have sought out information about his situation ‘more than once’, and are, among the many other clubs keen, showing their desire the most.

However, the Napoli manager is also very aware that gathering information doesn’t necessarily mean the club will come forward with an actual offer for him.

That’s why, despite being ‘very intrigued’ by Chelsea’s interest in his services (according to Gazzetta dello Sport last week), it seems that Sarri is being very careful not to get ahead of himself.
