There is a continuous belief in Italy that Arsenal could be Carlo Ancelotti’s next destination, but if it is, it won’t be a rushed decision by the Italian.
On Thursday, Il Mattino were pushing the angle, explaining there were some who thought the manager had already held talks with the Emirates club before he was sacked, but they are now backtracking.
They do still believe there were some talks, but they now state they were ‘only indirect contacts’ with the London club before his Napoli exit.
The reason for that was Ancelotti was ‘convinced’ he would remain as the manager of the Serie A club, and didn’t actually see his sacking coming.
Now that it’s done, however, and he’s been replaced by Gennaro Gattuso, the former Chelsea man is ‘not in a hurry’ to get back in the dugout and will ‘ponder every new option’.
Arsenal are mentioned, as are Everton, although the latter seem to be a backup alternative, as a move to the Emirates will remain the more attractive option of the two.
Regardless of the denials from certain member of the English press, London being Ancelotti’s next destination remains a strong belief in Italy.
