Continuing with his amazing season at Benfica, Arsenal target Darwin Nunez scored a new hat-trick at the weekend, reaching now 31 goals scored in 36 matches for the Eagles this season.
That’s why newspaper O Jogo today features a story saying the Uruguayan is side by side with Kylian Mbappe as the U23 top scorers in Europe’s main 15 leagues.
And as they list the candidates to land Darwin this summer, Arsenal are once again named as one of the clubs who could sign him in the next transfer window.
It’s said the 22-year-old is ‘in the sights’ of the Gunners, who have been frequently linked to the player in the past few weeks.
Benfica manager is quoted by O Jogo saying it’s ‘natural’ that Darwin draws the interest from big clubs this summer, and hoping he’ll leave ‘for numbers close’ to João Félix, who moved from Benfica to Atletico Madrid for €120m.
That’s a reason for Arsenal and other interested clubs to get worried about.
Part of that is because the striker is protected by a release clause worth €150m, and each time he has a great appearance, his price goes up, as we’ve seen it happening many times this season.
