Mauricio Pochettino has hinted he will be given another shot at the Manchester United job in future, believing this summer was not his only opportunity.

Pochettino has long been linked with the position after his impressive spell in charge of Tottenham, where he transformed them into title contenders.

It was felt he was a leading candidate during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s caretaker spell in charge following Jose Mourinho but the Norwegian’s success during that time led him to getting the job on a permanent basis.

His name was once again in the mix last year when Solskjaer was sacked, only for Ralf Rangnick to be appointed on an interim basis until the summer.

Again, it was believed Pochettino was among the candidates but Manchester United ultimately went for Ajax manager Erik ten Hag to lead their rebuild.

Having seemingly been rejected on several occasions at this point it would be fair to assume Pochettino has given up on the idea, but he insists that is not the case.

“Football is timing,” he told Radio Marca, when asked about the Manchester United opportunity.

“It’s the moments for it to coincide and for that marriage to happen. Sometimes it’s just a matter of timing. I don’t believe that trains pass just once.”
