The last time we had a look at the Kieran Trippier situation, it wasn’t looking good for Napoli.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side were reportedly being overtaken by Atlético Madrid, who had already made a €25m + bonuses offer for the Tottenham defender as well as offering him a four-year deal worth €50k/week.
There haven’t been any updates on that front, but Corriere dello Sport provide one from Napoli’s side of things, claiming the former Chelsea manager ‘hasn’t stopped thinking’ about the right-back, who will be playing in the Champions League final on Saturday against Liverpool.
This should be read as a ‘they haven’t forgotten about him’ rather than them being obsessed by the 28-year-old, and it’s a sign they could make further moves down the line should the opportunity present itself.
In order for that to happen, however, Elseid Hysaj needs to find himself a suitor, as a move for Trippier is ‘strictly tied’ to the Albanian’s future at the club.
If Napoli cannot sell the 25-year-old, then it seems a move for Trippier could be a bit more difficult, as Napoli look to bolster other areas of the pitch this summer too.
