Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira had approved a move for Fulham striker Carlos Vinícius in the January transfer window, before they eventually signed Vitor Roque instead.

That’s according to Bolavip, who cover the situation today as the Fulham striker is linked with a growing list of Brazilian clubs this week.

They explain that Ferreira had ‘approved’ the signing of the Fulham striker as the Brazilian club looked to sign a striker before their window closed.

He’s been hard at work trying to convince the Palmeiras board to sign a new centre-forward for a while and Vinícius would have been his preferred option. They, instead, decided to move for Roque and he is now their new, starting centre-forward.

That means a move for the Fulham man won’t be happening and they will instead sit back and watch as their rivals appear to fight over him.

Botafogo and São Paulo have already ‘sought information’ on the striker, whose contract with Fulham is due to expire in the summer. Several reports have them, and other Brazilian sides, showing an interest in securing a pre-contract agreement with him ahead of the summer.

Palmeiras are unlikely to be in the mix, though, with the club going in a different direction despite Ferreira have had a ‘preference’ for Vinícius at one point.
