Giovanni van Bronckhorst certainly hasn’t sounded too convinced this week that Nicolai Jorgensen will stay at Feyenoord beyond the end of the current transfer window.
A couple of days ago the Feyenoord boss was asked about Newcastle United interest in Jorgensen, and said: “I know there is interest… You are always dependent on the market. Especially when an English club is interested it can go fast.”
On Sunday Feyenoord beat Den Haag 3-1 and after the match Van Bronckhurst was again quizzed on Jorgensen potentially moving to Newcastle.
Dutch media outlet Soccer News believe the manager’s answer ‘further confirms’ the player’s desire to sign for Newcastle and they quote him as saying: “I don’t think you have to ask Nico if he wants the chance to go to the biggest competition in the world… But Nico depends on the club, he knows, and he goes very well with that.”
When Newcastle made their first approach for Jorgensen last week the price was put at €25m, then De Telegraaf suggested around €20m should do it, and now it’s back to the Premier League club to make their next move.
