Last night Fenerbahce dropped another two points in their home game against Kasimpasa. The Istanbul club are now experiencing their worst ever start to a league campaign and are just one point above the relegation zone.
Again, Leicester City loanee Islam Slimani was disappointing, which led to boos from the Fenerbahce fans.
After the game Fenerbahce interim manager Erwin Koeman was asked about Slimani’s performance, as covered by TrtSpor: “My players are not machines, that’s for certain. I know Slimani has done a really good job in certain places before coming to Fenerbahce, but it’s certainly not happening for him right now. He’s still a Fenerbahce player and I believe in him.”
Slimani’s goal drought in the Super Lig has now extended to eight games and the Algerian striker has scored just one goal since arriving from Leicester City in the summer.
Yesterday we covered reports from Turkey that Fenerbahce could look to bring in Emmanuel Adebayor in the next window to replace the Leicester City forward.
There have even been suggestions Slimani could be sent back to the Foxes in the new year, although it’s not known if there’s a clause in the loan agreement that would allow this.
