For the past few months, the Italian media have continued to link Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli with a move to Manchester United.
In recent times, the British press has also been talking about the possibility of the Red Devils signing the centre-back in the summer.
The club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis and manager Carlo Ancelotti have stressed on several occasions the 27-year-old will be at the club next season.
On March 29th, Corriere del Mezzogiorno reported the Senegal international will have a release clause of €150m which will be activated in the summer of 2020, but that has not stopped reports suggesting Manchester United are ready to pay €150m to secure Koulibaly’s services in the summer.
To discuss the rumours linking the African player with a move to Old Trafford, CalcioNapoli24 interviewed RAI journalist Ciro Venerato.
“Kalidou Koulibaly at United for 150 million is bull****. In fact, they are talking to [Mino] Raiola for [AS Roma’s Kostas] Manolas who has a €36m termination clause,” Venerato explained.
“Barcelona and Real Madrid are looking for a central defender, but neither club has the will to invest that money for Koulibaly. Napoli is serious, it starts to sit at 140 million, at 100 it does not sell it. Napoli does not need to sell the player.
“If Napoli really have to give away Koulibaly, they will ask for a monstrous figure. Koulibaly remains in Naples, he is the idol of the fans and is happy with Ancelotti.
“In a year the clause will go off but the Napoli is safe: in a year I doubt that someone will sign him for those figures (€150m).”
