On October 29th, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Manchester United have ‘almost finalised’ a deal to sign Juventus’ Mario Mandžukić in January.
Later that day, Tuttosport explained the 33-year-old has said ‘yes’ to the Premier League side after his ‘hesitation’ stopped him from joining them in the summer.
Mandžukić’s, whose contract expires in 2021, is not included in Maurizio Sarri’s plans and Calciomercato states the Turin club want to raise funds from his sale.
Juve are also open to letting him go out on loan, provided a compulsory purchase option is included as part of the deal.
The Italians need at least €5.3m for the Croatian, but neither Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side nor Sevilla have met their demands so far.
Manchester United are the attacker’s ‘favourite destination’ and they’re ready to pay him a salary of €5m per season. However, they don’t want to pay a transfer fee for a player who is so out of favour at Juventus.
Sevilla would take Mandžukić on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but they want the Serie A side to pay part of his salary.
