Manchester United are thinking about Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic, claims today’s edition of Sport.
A few days ago, the Red Devils contacted the La Liga winners to ask about the conditions to sign the midfielder
It is explained the intermediaries, working on behalf of the 20-time English champions, have already met at the Camp Nou offices to ask the price for the midfielder. There’s been ‘movement’ on the potential transfer.
There’s said to be ‘no doubt’ from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Manchester United that Rakitic would be an important part of the team.
For the Premier League side to seal the deal for the 31-year-old, they will have to convince him first and that seems to be the complicated part.
As of today, the player wants to continue with Ernesto Valevrde’s side, even though his employer sees his exit with good eyes.
The Spanish champions have made it clear to the former Sevilla star that he will not be offered a new deal, something which he’s been demanding since turning down Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Despite this, Rakitic feels comfortable at the club. Only a lucrative offer that is far better that what he is earning currently could make him think about leaving Barcelona.
Manchester United are said to be aware of this and must offer a better economic deal to convince Rakitic to join them.
Time should tell if Solskjaer’s side would be willing to offer lucrative wages to a player who turned 31 in March.
